When Children Play...contd..

5. Fighting Flying Kite.

Place: open field
Period: windy season

Kite designed for 'dog fight' in  air flying kites event. The design of the kite simply using bamboo sticks as its frame, while the body made of very thin square paper. The kites were all equiped with razor sharp thread. The thread was earlier had been dipped and smeared with mixed liquid gum comprises such as bulb or glasses powder. Actually these powders were manually pounds using stone pounders, and to the kite flyers they knew which powders would gave good results during flying kites fighting. The thrilled were, when you manage to cut loose the opponent kites thread and witnessing the winner kite zig zagging or swirled in action like fighter plane aerial dog fight, while the looser's kite  drifted down. Then, every children on the ground rushed to catch it. The one who got it became the new owner of the kite.

Yes its really fun game, full of tactical manoeuvre, but remember the DIY preparation and tasks must be well coordinated in order to be a winner in the kite fighting event. From self made kite design to thread's strength, all these got to be skilfully considered.

I wonder now whether this sort of game still exist!

When Children Play...

Salam and Good day,

Nowadays kids playing times are entirely full of sitting and 'hand keyed' to their PC key board! Whatever they seem to claim.. .the fun... educational.., herewith are some of my childhood  DIY goodies. Either ideas for DIY start off kits/projects or simply ponder your memorable childhood  playing gadgets.

Childhood DIY stuff:
Playing or fooling around?

1. Wooden rifle or pistol complete with sling, catapult with clip as bullet driver using wild seed as bullet.
We used to play mock battle drill among friends.

2. Bow and arrow made of bamboo. The arrow tail using chicken feather. We never missed practice by arrowing banana stems... and for sure the farmer really go 'bananas' on us he..hee.

3. Yacht. The body or hull made of unused rubber slipper while the sailer using big dried leave. Normally sailing launched during flood time. So watched out your slippers...

4. Smoking pipe. Made of beetle nut and bamboo straw. To have a puff you got to sneak out from the elders. As long as you stick to 'tobacco only' its alright...

To be continued..

Inspirasi Batu-Batan

Inspirasi batu-batan,

Keindahan pintu pagar lebih kelihatan semula jadi jika susunan batu-batan diterapkan di sebahagian kiri kanan pintu pagar kediaman. Serlahkan lagi pandangan berbeza di hadapan rumah menerusi kombinasi pasu berwarna-warni dengan tekstur berlainan diletakan berhampiran pintu pagar. Hmmn.. anda cubalah bayangkan rupa bentuk pagar yang disarankan. Tentu sekali menawan!

Pancaran Mimbar

Salam and good day,
